This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 06, 2007:
Yes I do! :*)
Receiving feedback from those around me (family, friends, co-workers, etc.) helps me get a clearer picture of the ways in which I am perceived. This is important to me because when I understand my impact on those around me I get to be more effective in my interactions with others.
I also keep in mind that individual perception isn't necesarily Truth! :*)
So when someone tells me something particularly painful I do my best to examine myself and my habits before I make a comment. Being aware of my values and goals is especially super important during these times so I can make infomed adjustments in my life based on the feedback, or realize that the other person might have had a bad day and is lashing out at whoever is handy. But often, at least part of what was disclosed helps me to get back on track with what is important in my life. Feedback from others also helps me respond to people in a healthy fashion that's best for their growth too.
I'm not always elegant at doing this ... I have rough days too and have been known to be less then happy when being read the riot act! LoL, but ... that is a normal response in us all I would think! :*)
